Dr. Ian Yu

Dr. Yu was appointed to the position of president of BCPMA in November 2022.  Prior to this he held the position of government liaison.  He has exciting plans and hopes for the association including working towards starting a podiatry department at a local university, writing a book on the history of podiatry in BC and reinstating in person evening educational lectures for podiatrists across BC.

Dr. Howard Green
Surrey, BC
Past-President

Dr. Green has a long history of service and dedication to the BC Podiatric Medical Association.  He was elected to the position of president in April 2013 and stayed in the roll as president until November 2022.  During his tenure as president Dr. Green helped podiatrists in BC navigate their transition to becoming part of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, negotiated a podiatry contract with WorkSafe BC to provide podiatric coverage to injured workers, organized annual scientific seminars pre-covid, arranged and organized monthly webinars during the covid pandemic and helped his colleagues and public navigate podiatry pre and post covid.  He is an incredible asset to the association and we are lucky to have him continue to serve as past-president where he remains active, providing his guidance and wisdom to the rest of the board.

Dr. Jaspaul Riar

Treasurer

Dr. Riar stepped into the roll of treasurer for BC Podiatric Medical Association in November 2022.  Prior to this he served as a member-at-large.  Dr. Riar is excited about the opportunity to serve both his colleagues and the public with his position on the BCPMA board of directors.  He has a long history of community service in the podiatry field including previously working with the College of Podiatric Surgeons of BC.

Dr. Jordan Bueche

Dr. Bueche was born and raised in Sarasota Florida

She completed her undergraduate studies in Biomedical Science and Philosophy at the University of Central Florida. She went on to get her Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from Kent State University in Cleveland, Ohio.

She completed her 3-year residency at the Bay Pines Veterans' Affairs Healthcare System in Saint Petersburg, Florida where she was trained in the medical and surgical management of a wide range of foot and ankle pathologies.

By the end of her residency, Dr. Bueche and her husband had decided they had gotten their fill of Florida sunshine, and moved to British Columbia when Dr. Bueche was hired to join Achilles Foot Health Centre in September 2022.

In her free time, Dr. Bueche enjoys trail running, rock climbing, and traveling with her husband.

Dr. Ray Bolen
West Vancouver, BC

Dr. Ray Bolen has served on the BCPMA board of directors since the early 2010s.  For many years he served tirelessly as treasurer, and moved onto the roll of member-at-large in November 2022.  During his tenure as treasurer Dr. Ray Bolen was responsible for the finances of the association and had a special passion for helping podiatrists travel to rural communities in BC to provide much needed podiatric care.  He continues this passion and work today in his role as a member-at-large.  He has been a power-house on the board for over a decade and we are lucky to have him on our team!

Dr. Neil Brown

Dr. Brown joined the BCPMA board of directors in November 2022.  He is passionate about serving both his colleagues and the public in his role as member-at-large.  While new to the board Dr. Brown has many exciting ideas and is working with the rest of the executive to bring those ideas into fruition.  We are grateful to have Dr. Brown representing podiatrists from the Okanagan Valley on our executive.

Dr. Roy Mathews

As a podiatrist and as an avid athlete, Dr Mathews has a passion for solving the foot problems of active people and getting them back to their normal lives as quickly as possible. He began his studies at Simon Fraser University in the kinesiology department, where he also played on the University’s basketball team. Following his years at SFU, Dr. Mathews played a season of professional basketball in the Middle East, before moving to Chicago to study Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Mathews then completed a surgical residency in North Hollywood, California.

He has been in private practice since 1997, splitting his time between Vancouver Podiatry’s Kerrisdale, Downtown, and New Westminster locations.

With his extensive background in Kinesiology, as well as in amateur and professional sports, Dr. Mathews focuses a large portion of his Podiatric practice on Sports Medicine, treating amateur to national-level athletes in many sports including soccer, basketball, running and triathlon. Dr. Mathews shares his wealth of experience and expertise widely, lecturing regularly to running clubs across the city, as well as to the Vancouver Sun Run clinics.

When not seeing patients in Vancouver Podiatry’s new Kerrisdale office, Dr. Mathews enjoys road and mountain biking, surfing, paddle boarding, yoga, volleyball and jogging.
